Caidin Thomas Smith
I am a 2022 graduate of the Florida Atlantic University Phylis and Harvey Sandler School of Social Work Master of Social Work Program and was awarded as the 2022 National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Palm Beach Student Social Worker of the Year.
I completed my clinical internship at Compass Community Center, the LGBTQ+ community center of Palm Beach County. At Compass I worked with youth, adolescents, and adults in individual and groups settings.
Prior to becoming a social worker, I worked as a veterinary assistant and technician in surgical and emergency departments, as well as in canine rehabilitation/physical therapy.
In 2021 I was sponsored by the OutFoundation as an OUTAthlete in the sport of CrossFit, and participated in multiple competitions in FL, CT, and NY. I have also played in the New York Gay Flag Football League and South Florida Flag Football League. In 2022 I was honored to accept the Compete Sports Diversity Molly Lenore Inspirational Athlete Award. In the past I was a competitive softball player, earning a Division 1 Scholarship to play and study at the University of Delaware where I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in 2010.
In my free time I love spending time relaxing and playing with my dog, attending concerts and sporting events, traveling, reading, and enjoying every moment with my husband.
I am a late diagnosed adult with AuDHD (Autism and ADHD). I am still working on unmasking after nearly 40 years spent trying to fit into a neurotypical world, but with the right support and encouragement, it is becoming easier.
